Diya’s Bharatanatyam journey started at the age of 4 under the guidance of Guru Smt. Bindu Pratap. Diya has been fortunate to have a Guru who has lovingly cultivated her appreciation for this divine art form, transforming it into a lifelong passion.
Diya’s passion for dance has flourished throughout her journey. In addition to participating in various community cultural events she has had the honor of performing in prestigious events such as Arudra Natyanjali at Livermore Siva Vishnu Temple, Nritanjali’s production Nakshatra, and the 2023 Art of Living World Culture Festival in Washington, D.C.
Diya has also been fortunate to attend workshops under the guidance of renowned artists, such as Vidushi Rama Vaidyanathan and Kalaimamani Madurai R. Muralidharan further refining and enhancing her dance skills .
In addition to Bharatanatyam, Diya has learned Carnatic music under the guidance of Smt. Vidya Iyengar. She has also learned Western violin and has been a part of the Mountain House High School Orchestra and San Joaquin County Honor Orchestra for the past 6 years and is a recipient of the Nelson Zane Music Award.
Academically Diya is a senior at Mountain House High School and will be graduating this summer. She is excited to pursue her undergraduate studies in Global Disease Biology.
